When it premiered in 2008,Merlin was the talk of the town. It was so popular that everywhere you go to back then, Merlin was on the lips of everyone. Back then, if you had not watched Merlin, you would automatically be deemed local. People might even make fun of you.

The Merlin series was a huge hit both in Nigeria and abroad. Everyone loved the show,as it focused on the adventures of King Arthur and his wizard, Merlin. With their destinies interwoven together, these two men set out to find their calling.

The show ran for 5 seasons before it was cancelled in 2012.It was a huge blow to many fans when the show was cancelled,as the production company wanted to move on to another show.

The show saw Merlin, a young wizard whose destiny was to protect the one and true king of Camelot, Arthur go through various challenges and hurdles. In a world where sorcery was forbidden and deemed evil, Merlin had to keep his secret safe.

It's so amazing that it's been 8 years since the show ended!The casts have now changed tremendously. Back then, we had star character and lead roles like:

Arthur

The protagonist and friend to Merlin. Arthur was the one and true king of Camelot. Thus,many people were always aiming to kill him. He fought for what he believed was right and laid his life for his people.

Merlin

The young wizard whose destiny was to protect Arthur. As a sorcerer, Merlin had to keep his magic a secret, while protecting Arthur from numerous troubles and enemies.

Morgana

The beautiful daughter of Uther, and Arthur's sister. It was originally thought that Morgana was just Uther's ward, but it was later revealed she was his daughter. Morgana had just one goal, to become the queen of Camelot and she was ready to eliminate anyone who stood in her way.

Gwen

Morgana's servant who later became queen when she marries Arthur. Gwen was the pretty lady who seemed to attract the attention of a lot of men.

Uther

The defiant king who hated sorcery so much that he made sure all sorcerers were killed. He is a sort of hypocrite, as he decides to use magic to heal his daughter, when she needed it.

Gaius

Gaius was Merlin's guardian and teacher. He was also the physician and adviser to the king. As Merlin's guardian, he helped Merlin attain his full potentials, while keeping his secret.

All the above characters were instrumental to the development of the TV show. Now to the main business,what Merlin looks like now.

The role of Merlin was played by Colin Morgan. Colin is an Irish actor and he came into prominence after he starred as Merlin in the BBC show, Merlin. After his recognition from Merlin, he went on to act in different shows and movies like The living and the dead, humans, The fall and many others.

Currently, Colin Morgan is dating longtime friend and co-worker,Katie McGrath. Katie McGrath played the role of Morgana in Merlin. It is quite funny and ironical that the two characters, Merlin and Morgana were mortal enemies, whereas in real life that are in a relationship.
